About This Practice
You have a unique caregiving style complete with skills and strengths only you can provide your loved one. In this practice, you will identify and embody your style and strengths, deepen your understanding of yourself, and discover why you are perfectly equipped for this moment.
Steps
Read your style(s)
Read through the caregiving style description(s) your advocate provided. If you have multiple styles, consider which one you feel describes you the best. As you read, pick out the words that connect with you most.
Identify your strength
Read through your style description again, focusing on the words that you connected with most. Think about what strength(s) you possess as a caregiver. Which of these are most important to you in your caregiving role? Write your answer down and let those words sink in for the next few days.
Embody your strength
Read your style one more time. Look at the strengths you wrote down. Are these still strengths you feel are important? Is there something new you want to add? Think of a time when you embodied that strength and how it helped your loved one.
